Program Objectives

The program aims to prepare scientifically and professionally qualified translators who are capable of meeting the requirements of the local and regional job market. This is achieved by building a strong linguistic foundation, developing practical skills, and enhancing professional and ethical awareness in the field of translation.

Specifically, the program seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Providing trainees with essential theoretical knowledge in translation studies, enabling them to understand the concepts and terminology related to the profession and its development.
  2. Developing trainees’ linguistic competence in both Arabic and English, ensuring language accuracy and stylistic precision when translating to and from Arabic.
  3. Enhancing practical translation skills through training in strategies and techniques for conveying meaning in accordance with the cultural and linguistic context of the source text.
  4. Enabling trainees to work with specialized texts in various fields such as legal, commercial, medical, and media translation, according to approved professional standards.
  5. Strengthening trainees’ ability in terminology research and the use of specialized references and dictionaries, as well as building terminology databases that improve translation quality.
  6. Introducing trainees to the ethics of the translation profession and professional work principles, including confidentiality, accuracy, commitment, and professional responsibility.
  7. Preparing trainees for integration into the job market, either as freelance translators or within institutions and companies, by developing professional skills, communication abilities, and translation project management skills.
