Teaching Arabic to non-native speakers

The Arabic language represents a culture and civilization spoken by a wide range of societies. As a result of the rapid events in the Arab world, interest in learning the Arabic language is growing worldwide for political, diplomatic, economic, religious, cultural, educational, touristic, and communication purposes. In order to gain a greater understanding of the world, characterized by diversity, convergence, intellectual, and cultural pluralism, our organization (Arab Translator Center) aspires to provide a distinctive teaching program using the latest international methods of teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers. This program aims to contribute to spreading the language widely and to strengthen its role and status as a universal language.

All courses will be taught by specialized teachers who are experienced in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The center provides educational programs and courses supported by social and cultural activities, as well as field trips to encourage direct interaction and communication with people, helping to build cultural ties between nations.

The program aims to maximize the learner’s knowledge through lessons and activities based on videos, interactive activities, and various intensive educational exercises, enabling learners to meet their educational needs.

The educational content was prepared by an elite group of Arabic language and applied linguistics specialists, and the program levels are divided according to language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and language elements (sounds, vocabulary, and structures) in an integrative manner, adopting the modular system.

  1. Introductory Level (Listening):

There is no doubt that listening is the primary gateway to learning the language and the right way to acquire it. The Arabic learner will not be able to learn until they listen to a speaker who speaks the words correctly, pronouncing each sound separately. This establishes the foundation for pronunciation, where progress in listening skills leads to improvements in conversation and reading, as it is based on recognition, understanding, interaction, and critical thinking skills.

  1. The main program consists of several levels; each level contains different topics dealing with Arabic grammar in several ways:
  2. Main Education Video: A video about various life situations.
  3. Patterns and Structures: The program focuses on presenting functional grammar through patterns, structures, and various interactive exercises.
  4. Reading: The program includes a set of texts and vocabulary that help the student understand the texts, recognize the symbols, and pronounce them correctly. It also helps students extract general and partial ideas and understand the meaning of words within context. Additionally, it includes audible text, and the student can re-read it, with the possibility of recording their voice, followed by a variety of exercises.
  5. Conversation: Includes several exercises based on the student’s level, starting with self-introduction and short questions and sentences, progressing to higher levels where the learner is asked to discuss specific topics based on the lesson’s output. The program includes interactive videos where the learner converses with another person on a specific topic.
  6. Writing: Includes various writing exercises based on the student’s level, starting with simple sentence construction, moving to paragraphs, and eventually writing on specific topics based on the lesson’s output. The program allows the student to write letters, words, arrange written symbols, place them in sentences and paragraphs, link ideas, and apply proper punctuation.
  7. Exercises: General exercises on all skills and linguistic elements, including a variety of activities such as: multiple-choice, true or false, rearrange, correct mistakes, connect, fill in the gaps, etc.
