Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a member of the European Union and, as of 2024, part of the Schengen Area. A residency or citizenship pathway offers access to EU rights (e.g., freedom of movement, access to education & healthcare within EU context) and visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to many countries.
Requirements:
Must be a non-EU citizen.
Valid passport/travel document, clean criminal record, able to prove source of funds.
Minimum investment: approx. €512,000 (about BGN 1 million) into a regulated Bulgarian investment fund (or other government-approved investment mechanism) held for at least 5 years.
After investment and approval, you may get a permanent residence permit in about 6-9 months.
No requirement for minimum stay in Bulgaria for many versions of this program.
